My New Thing - Sewing!

I used to be really good at purging. Then I had my second child and well that gets put on the back burner doesn't it, for well, we'll see how long. Like I used to be a neat freak and my house was always perfect, not anymore! And I'm OK with it. I realized not too long ago after becoming a mom that I have this love for sewing so what better way to purge than to recycle! Plus I have a ton of clothes that don't fit and probably won't ever again, so I might as well use some of the fabric and save some pennies!

I've never really been into sewing. My mom was. Maybe it's because I have babies now but for the past year I've had this desire to create baby accessories so I've practically adopted my mom's sewing machine and never looked back, it's now like my new addiction! I started with baby accessories like bib scarfs after spending nearly $20 on a couple at H&M. I thought the price point was ridiculous so I thought I'd try make my own.

I then moved to soother clips because they were in fact way easier and faster to make and my daughter was teething bad so timing was perfect! So far I've made headbands, soother clips, bib scarves, the two camo bib scarves are for my sister who just had twins! The other day I tried cutting out a template for a dress for my girl, using a dress she already owns versus a pattern. I've never been one who's good at following instructions or a recipe. I tweak, I change and do my own thing until I get what I want but I'm sure I'll have to rethink my method here soon. Just new at all this but liking it so far.

I never saw myself one to own a sewing machine. Same goes for blogging and trying to pursue music. I love how life is a constant stream of surprises, whether it's self discovery or watching from the sidelines. There's always a beautiful view right? More to come on this new self discovery thing. Hey, maybe I'll start a home business if I get good at it!
