Sick Mom, Sick Baby. My Tips!

Feb 2, 2017
2 min read

I read a few blogs where they had listed tips for making it easier when you have kids at home when you are sick. Great for two older kids. No such list for having an 18 month old and a 4 year old and the baby being one that was sick too! And no my hubby cant take time off work. I am very thankful my boy is 4, he can help out more than I thought! He was the official sandwich maker. Sure it may get a little messy but they taste good and he feels so proud that he can help and serve them to you. Fresh rolls, deli ham and already grated cheese definitely helped too!

Thankfully I had homemade soup and spaghetti sauce in the freezer so that was my go to for meals as well as fresh fruit smoothies. I had the hubby pick up a few things to make our lives a little easier so here's a few of those:

Easy to eat fruit like bananas, raspberries, grapes and strawberries.

Baby tomatoes, cucumber, sliced deli meats, turkey pepperoni sticks.

Fresh baked rolls.

Bagged grated cheese.

Yogurt drinks.

Pack of those mixed boxed cereals.

Juice boxes,

Fruit Loops.

Honey Lemon lozenges

Cup a soups

I always have Cheerios, veggie sticks, fruit roll ups and cereal bars on hand too of course!

Netflix has been our buddy and we've been trying to keep the imaginations flowing being stuck in the house singing along to the movies like Annie, building forts, playing hide and seek - me being the one telling them who's hiding and giving clues while I stayed put on the couch! My Ipad kept my boy boy amused so he had his Ready Jet Go games and WildKratt puzzles, and YouTube came in handy for music videos and Monster Jam re runs!

I also tried the laying down and getting the kids to guess whats your butt game!

I got to lie down and even though I wasn't resting it was so funny and the kids loved it. Thanks Daily Mom for that idea along with the food delivery idea. We don't usually order take out so that was a nice treat for all of us!

I am finally on the mend feeling back to my self and SO glad to see to the end of January. Time to get singing again, I have a gig on Feb 12th and my voice is very scratchy still so I'm on the herbal tea and honey this week!

This post may help you with a few ideas though I know as moms we all have our own ways and home comforts, especially when we're under the weather. I thought I'd post about my hellish couple weeks, maybe it'll bring you comfort knowing you are not alone! Let me know by posting on my Facebook page HERE what tips you have on being sick at home with babies,I know its no fun!

Take care, stay healthy and here's to no more sickness this year!
