For the first This Mommy Rocks feature post it had to be my good friend Andrea Nixon. She's a mom of 3 tutors kids in her spare time (like she gets any?) and is currently recording her debut album here in Edmonton with Bobby Cameron, I wanted to know how does she get it all done? A wife, homemaker, three kids, teacher and embarking on this crazy dream of making music her business! Since meeting her nearly 3 years ago now she has really become a great friend and I truly admire her drive and ambition and she popped over this morning with a very yummy festive Starbucks coffee to update me on how the album was coming along. The title "Diary of a Housewife" is going to be a 10-12 song diary of just that. How she got to where she is right now. She's spent the last 9 years writing these songs and can't wait for everyone to hear and connect with her life stories . I am very proud and excited for her and so glad we met at one of the first Musical Mama's meeting here in the city nearly 3 years ago. We'll both be performing at their first official CD release this weekend, see this link for more details on that!
In between feeding my 15 month old I had a few questions for her as a busy mom getting ready for an album release...
Her debut single "You Didn't Make Me" was nominated at the Edmonton Music Awards for best Video and she was recently featured on Shaw TV for "Edmonton Unplugged." If you like the classic country sound and straight from the heart storytelling you'll love her songs.
