Smoke Break? I need a time out!

I don't smoke. I don't drink that much either. Have two kids though and you'll want to do both, at the same time some days. Seriously. I'm enjoying my wine now more than I ever did, Somewhere quiet where there are no children, that's my idea of my "smoke break."

I had a phone call with a friend this morning and the timing of it was funny because all we did was vent about how overwhelming our lives were. I guess I'm still getting into the flow of having two, and hoping it will come soon. Some days I find it hard to keep it all balanced and together. Between keeping the house ran, laundry done, the husband fed, preschool, skate class, hockey class, swimming lessons, and that's just the top priority list, my girl is now walking and into everything. Talk about another shift. Have you ever had a day where you just want to lock yourself in the bathroom for an hour right and let it go all to poop? Then you have to try handle everything else and other commitments. I keep telling myself its the new norm, I will get through it. It's what I've always wanted. Maybe I need to catch up on sleep too. If you're having one of those down days where you're feeling frazzled take a time out. Be a warrior - read my last post (You are a WARRIOR!) I wrote the song.

As mothers we all need a TIME OUT to recharge our (patience) battery and remember what it's like to actually be alone without a child for an hour or two. Whether it's wine, coffee, yoga, a run, whatever you crave on that day (if you're lucky enough) or that week - try make happen. Have your hubby do the bedtime routine and have a soak with a good book and glass of red. Or have your in laws take the kids for a few hours. As mothers we have the hardest job in the world raising little humans, wearing so many hats all the time and we all deserve our own "smoke break" once in a while.

Here's a little cover of the song by the amazing Carrie Underwood who now is a Mommy who Rocks doing her world Storyteller tour with her son in tow. I love how she keeps it real, folds laundry after her shows and can't wait to get into sweats once she gets home! Great article here on her take on motherhood!

This is by far not my greatest performance as I was trying to keep it down while my baby girl napped but hey its a little tune for your Friday and me having a little break of my own!

Have a wonderful weekend! Nicky x
